These photographs were kindly donated by Joanna Keys when she rescued a small case of photographs from being dumped during a house clearance. The images can be dated to the mid to late 1930s from pictures of the famous ship the Moshulu, (a four-masted steel barque built by William Hamilton and Company on the River Clyde in Scotland in 1904. The largest remaining original windjammer, she is currently a floating restaurant docked in Penn’s Landing, Philadelphia, adjacent to the museum ships USS Olympia and USS Becuna) which docked in Belfast for refitting in 1938. There are timeless scenes from the Irish countryside and views from Cave Hill showing the sparsely populated parts of North Belfast towards Carrick.
